Arch bridge

Germany

A steel arch bridge with a suspended bridge deck is an elegant and cost-optimized solution for rail and road crossings. Our tools allow their parameterization even under unfavourable geometric conditions

The newly planned overpass of a country road over the federal highway was designed as a single-span arch bridge. The span of the bridge (in the axis) is 60.1 m, and the width is 17.9 m. The axis of the crossing forms an angle of approx. 55 degrees to the highway. The arches, with a pitch height of approx. 8.00 m, are welded box sections 750 x 830 mm. The main beams, as double T-profiles, 1650 mm high, are suspended from the arches by means of steel hangers with a diameter of 100 mm, each 6.00 m apart. An initial elevation of 90 mm was provided for the main beams. The roadway has cross slopes of 2.0 to 2.5 % in both directions, which is why the cross girders are made of welded double T-sections with top chords at variable heights. Due to the inclined position of the bridge, some cross girders are shorter and supported on one side on the inclined end cross girder.
